Technology

Our office offers advanced technology diagnostics allowing us to review and address your concerns and catch eye disease in it’s early stages with regular eye health exams.

/Early Detection

Clarus 500 (Fundus)

Clarus 500 has an exciting new technology capturing Ultra-wide, true colour and high-resolution image of your retina. Typical fundus machines only capture a limited view of the eye (about 45 °), whereas Clarus 500 ultra-widefield imaging magnifies so Drs. Naylor and Murdoch can see more details, quickly and more comfortably (clarus 500 covers 9x the retinal area of standard retinal cameras in one photo).

Non-Contact Tonometry (NCT)

This test is one of the main tests for glaucoma as it uses a small puff of air to check the pressure in each eye. Glaucoma patients normally don’t have symptoms until it progresses to their central vision. Treatment for glaucoma is much more successful when the disease is caught early so patients over 65 should be seen yearly and 18-64 year olds should be seen every 2 years.

Visual Field Testing

Visual field test is a subjective measure of central and peripheral vision or “side vision”. Glaucoma, brain tumours, strokes and various retinal disorders can all affect peripheral vision and can be picked up with routine visual field testing.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

OCT is a cutting-edge diagnostic test that provides high-resolution and detailed images of the layers of the retina. It is used to measure changes in the retina thickness and check for leakage below the retinal surface. This facilitates early detection and treatment for macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetes, vitreo macular adhesions, epiretinal membranes, macular edema and macular holes.
